I like the sub forum for this So basically my goal is to lose weight and get healthy. I've been a slacker about this but I'm sick of it. I want to be healthy. I'm starting the P90X program on April 1st, so we'll see how that goes. I'm committing to a full 90 days but I've heard its pretty intense. My other big issue is snacking. I've tried easing off but that doesn't work for me so I'm officially cutting out all junk food, sodas, and most processed food. So something that would be great for me is if people know of great natural snacks I may not have thought of. Also, I think I'm going to journal my eating habits so if you see a lack of fruits or veggies tell me! I'm horrible at not eating them. I feel like this forum could be really useful for me. Good luck to everyone else striving to be healthy too!

Its Power90 Extreme. Which is a program through a bodybuilding/exercise company called BeachBody. I'd heard a bunch of celebrites start using it and figured it was a fad and then several of my friends tried it and the 2 that stuck with it had great results. It basically is a 90 day program (hence the 90) that strives to push you (the extreme). Each 30 days is a different phase so you start out easier and get to harder workouts as you go along. Its about an hour for each workout. Its a 7 day rotation. Day 1) Chest & Back Strength Training Day 2) Pylometrics (Cardio workout that runners do a lot) Day 3) Arms & Shoulders Strength Training Day 4) Yoga Day 5) Legs & Lower Back Strength Training Day 6 Kenpo (Kickboxing) Day 7 is a recovery day and they have stretching stuff you can do or suggest you just do some form of cardio. And then it repeats. I've done 2 days and I was definitely sore after the chest & back workout but a good sore no pulled muscles. I worked so many muscles I didn't know I had. The pylo kicked my butt. I nearly threw up a couple times but I was warned by several people that the pylo is the most intense one and that I should expect to feel that way. There's a 15 minute extra Ab Ripper video for after each strength training that I tried and failed miserably so I'm going to wait a couple weeks before adding that in.
So anyway, yeah definitely intense but so far so good. I like the coach too, he's energetic without being the overly obnoxious peppy guy.

Good and bad. I totally lost it over the last week and kinda backslid. I've decided to tweak my plan though and do my cardio with a friend since she's wanting to take a class at my gym. Then I'm keeping up with the strength training videos though. Getting off track meant I'm not seeing much yet in my arms (at least not looks wise) but I can tell my back is stronger and its not as sore anymore which is great. I actually wrote out a daily schedule this week for the next month. I realized part of my problem is that I don't like working out but if I have a favorite tv show I'll get more into my workout. (So Mondays-Chuck/One Tree HIll, Tuesdays-Glee, & Thursdays-Vampire Diaries work great ). But I was telling myself I'd work out another time and hang out with friends at those times and I just ended up skipping the workout. So I've decided that even if my friends think its pathetic, I'm just unavailable those nights. Its the best way I can think of right now to keep in an exercise habit. And I've got to give up soda completely. Tonight is my first night of no soda. Yikes!

You can support and push one another to always get it done. Very good idea about the TV shows. That's how I do it with my treadmill. I watch all my teen shows online and I used to have a rule that I couldn't watch them unless I was on the treadmill while I did. It's part of why I've stopped exercising now because I can't download them properly anymore. I can only get about 10 minutes a day since they only load during the early hours of the morning then time out.

Whew so totally got off track on my workout for a while. The p90x really is awesome but I had some health issues and really got thrown off. I am happy to say that thanks to a horrific bout of kidney stones on the 4th of July, I've gotten back on target. I've cut soda and sugar out of my diet. Anything with sweetener has to have used either cane juice or honey. No corn syrup or refined sugar. It was headache causing the first week, not that I noticed too much with kidney stones, but still I got through. I've lapsed a teensy bit on the sugar but its been no soda for 26 days now. (I'm so amazed at myself). Anyway, I've been setting 3 week goals. First one was no soda. Now its 7 servings of fruit or veggies a day and 64 oz of water. Plus my exercise has been a 45 minute walk each day. Just to get myself in a steady habit. It's been working though. Cutting out soda and the sugar has resulted in losing 11 pounds. Its awesome.

if you have not done a lot of excercising, I would not go straight for the p90x. it is very intense, and you will get fed up and quit. There is one before that, that is called the Power 90. try that first!

Yeah definitely figured out that the Ab Ripper was a bad idea. The rest wasn't bad, I didn't push myself too hard. My health issues came from kidney stones and also I wasn't thinking and tried showing a friend the moves without warming up. Dumb! Totally pulled muscles.
But I've been doing good on my more recent endeavor. I'm still struggling to get all my veggies though. Fruits are easy. 1 smoothie as a snack and something in the morning and I'm set. And I'm up to walking 3 times a week. I need to do more but that in itself is sadly good for me. But still, I've now lost a total of 18 pounds so that's something.
I saw pictures from a friend the other day from Christmas in 2007 and it was awful. I was so much thinner back then (although still not in good shape). At least with my new attitude towards fitness, I might be able to be back at that weight by this Christmas. That's something.
